Difficulties selling products in Japan

Japanese people have a unique sensibility that is often difficult for people overseas to understand. Japanese customers are considered very difficult to deal with by manufacturers around the world, and this is actually true.


When product is damaged

Japanese customers are very demanding when it comes to products.

For example, if a product is even slightly damaged, they want it replaced. (Even if it is something that can be scratched right out of the package, like an outdoor toy).


It is normal to have a warranty

Customers consider a warranty of about one year to be a matter of course.

They do not check the return policy when ordering, so they are often dissatisfied after a defect occurs.

Only understand Japanese.

Many Japanese people cannot understand English or Chinese at all. This is even more true when it comes to paper manuals, which cannot be translated.


Complaints about slow delivery

Because Japan is a small country, most items usually arrive within 1~2 days when you shop online. This significantly reduces customer satisfaction when goods are shipped from overseas.

Decrease in brand value due to price competition

Many products face this problem, especially when they sold on Amazon.
